"ESN has created a network for directors of Social Services around Europe which functions very well and has become indispensable."

Dr. Hermann Kues, Parliamentary Secretary of State, German Ministry for Family, Youth, Women and Older People
.

About the Network

The European Social Network (ESN) is the independent network for social services in Europe. ESN Members are key providers of vital social services and work closely with health, employment and education services and voluntary and private providers.

While models of organisation and financing vary, social services across Europe have a strong tradition of delivering care, support and protection to vulnerable people in disadvantaged communities. ESN is a forum for practice exchange among its members and a platform for policy engagement at European level. ESN receives a network funding grant from the European Commission and has consultative status with the Council of Europe.

The Network's activities are underpinned by our mission statement:

To promote social justice, inclusion, equality, and anti-poverty in Europe through development of quality public social services.

To work with European national directors' associations and other partners to share knowledge, information, experience and expertise on social policy and practice issues.

To provide a focus and a platform for the representation of social services in European policy-making and to support social services to participate in national policy-making.
