The Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSS) in Barcelona City Council (Spain) guarantees the social rights and basic needs of its citizens. The IMSS was born in January 2010 with the commitment to guarantee that social rights were exercised equally across the city's districts. The Institute is an autonomous body of the Council that responds to the city's social realities and increasingly complex, plural and changing needs, and citizens expectations.
