Everyone should have access to employment opportunities, regardless of their background or abilities, according to the disability (and vulnerable persons) employment plan. To help a variety of groups, Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) either commissions or administers four key programmes:

People with impairments can receive assistance from Forwards Employment Service (FES) in pursuing their employment goals. FES offers career assistance to identify talents and work objectives, boost confidence, control anxiety, and get over obstacles.

Going the Extra Mile Project (GEM): The GEM Project is a singular and unprecedented collaboration of more than 50 nonprofit organisations in Gloucestershire. It assists those who are having trouble finding a job and motivates them to pursue education, training, volunteering, or employment (with an employer or self-employment).

AIM: Provides 16 to 25-year-olds with special education needs and disabilities with supported internships and work-based training opportunities. The programme aids in their skill development so they can find and keep jobs.

Better 2 Activities is a service that helps persons with severe and persistent mental health disorders find jobs, volunteer work, educational opportunities, or other practical support.

People with chronic illnesses or disabilities are the focus of GCC. However, they acknowledge that people who are the furthest removed from the labour market face numerous, complicated issues that need an all-encompassing package of specially designed support. Overall, this project aims to offer persons who are the furthest away from the labour market specialised support and assist them in achieving their employment goals
