Romania's Professional Association of Social Assistance (ASSOC) was established in 1995, and works in the field of social services through the development of activities that support vulnerable groups. It is currently based in Baia Mare, and the organisation has branches in Bucharest, Arad, Suceava and Râmnicu Vâlcea. It implements activities in social services development, procedures and quality.

  • Supporting social service professionals and workers

  • Educational support for children with disabilities and/or behavioural problems, including speech therapy and psychotherapy
  • Working with refugees and immigrants: ensuring access to educational services (nursery, kindergarten, school), health services, Romanian language courses and cultural accommodation
  • Working with the Roma community  in projects with integrated activities (supplying education, trainings, employment measures, social and medical services, activities to improve living conditions, legal support and activities to promote multiculturalism and non-discrimination)
  • Information and counselling services for citizens and the elderly, including mediating the relationship between them and public authorities, civil society and social service providers in order to improve the situation of vulnerability in the context of measures to prevent the spread of COVID epidemic, through the Call service Center
  • Improving the integration of migrants by strengthening integrated services for them, interculturality and dialogue between migrants and authorities.
