The European Social Services Conference, the largest annual forum for public social services professionals in Europe, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022.  Over 15,000 delegates have joined us over the years to discuss the latest innovations in social care policy and practice and share their experiences of delivering support to vulnerable communities.

Throughout Covid-19 frontline social services professionals have been implementing new ways of working so that care could continue. Digitalisation of services, new procurement models, professional roles or workforce strategies and new approaches to include people using services in the design of social services are just some of the changes which are taking place.   At the same time, new EU budget and national resilience and recovery funds have the potential to provide investment to build on this transformation to modernise and reform social services, for the benefit of those who need quality social care the most.

Join us between 8-10 June 2022 in Hamburg to discuss what these new developments and opportunities mean for public social services. The Conference offers:

  • 4 plenary and 4 thematic discussions with inspirational speakers at the cutting edge of social welfare policy and practice;
  • 28 workshops where social service professionals from across Europe will share their expertise and front-line experiences;
  • 12 pitch project presentations at project forum
  • An innovation zone with the latest developments in social services
  • A forum for Nordic and European colleagues to discuss a key issue in social services

How can you get involved?

Be one of the 650 delegates expected to join us in Hamburg next year. Super-early bird registration with 10% discount on the conference fee opens in early December. Panel discussions on the conference theme of “Rethinking Recovery” organised by the Bertelsmann Foundation and Eurofound are already confirmed, and more speakers are being confirmed in the next few weeks.  The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg will welcome you to a reception at Hamburg City Hall. Look out for the personal invitation in your inbox when registration opens.

There’s also still time to apply to share your experiences with colleagues across Europe by submitting a proposal to organise one of the planned interactive workshops, thematic panels or quick-fire project presentations. The deadline for applications is 13 December for applications in French, German, Italian and Spanish and 14 December for applications in English.

Make your work and experience on how we can build resilient and future-facing social services part of the discussions in Hamburg in June next year.
