Georgia Chimbani is the Director of Adult and Community Services for Suffolk County Council, a local authority in the east of England.

She is passionate about the promotion of equality, non-discriminatory practice, and empowerment of communities. She has successfully translated her knowledge and skills in capacity building of community organisations in Africa to the UK. Throughout her career, spanning 25 years in social care organisations, Georgia has been a strong advocate for practitioner led research and practice to deliver positive outcomes for people and communities.

Georgia is a member of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services [ADASS] and is currently co-chair of the Older People and Dementia Network. She has recently taken on responsibility as lead for the ADASS International Network, a role she is incredibly excited about.

Having qualified and worked as Social Worker in Zimbabwe before coming to the UK, Georgia recognises how important international networks such as the European Social Network are in sharing learning and promoting innovation in social care. Georgia is a believer in the concept of the world as a global village and looks forward to working with all members in fulfilling the ESN vision of strengthening international networks through advocacy and exchange of information.
