Responsibilities/ Services

  • Working on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government.
  • We aim to influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils so they are able to deliver local solutions to national problems.
  • Provide a coordinated approach to sector-led improvement across local government, helping local authorities continue their own improvement journey, access key resources and support and contribute to the improvement of local government as a whole.
  • Provide support across a range of programmes based on what works for improvement: a strong, representative political and managerial leadership and workforce, support and challenge from one’s peers, the ability to benchmark performance against others, use of comparable data and the sharing of good practice.
