The National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB) budget provides a wide range of support to schools, including:
• a lower pupil-to-teacher ratio
• increased staffing • increased capitation funding based on level of deprivation
• preferential access to a variety of professional development supports
• primary-level access to a variety of numeracy/literacy support services and measures
• access to services such as Home-School-Community Liaison.

• integration emphasis • school development planning
The Home-School-Community Liaison Programme's activities include home visits and outreach, courses for parents, developing the parent as a resource in their children's learning, and supporting young people through peers.
