ESN members from Austria identify the most important common challenges facing social services, relating to three principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights and recommendations for the 2023 European Semester.

A national action plan should be set out to determine how the Austrian government will implement the European Child Guarantee, including clear provisions on the collection of data on children’s needs, the monitoring and evaluation of actions taken. A comprehensive long-term care reform should address the availability of care services, including development of specific measures and targets to ensure the quality and sustainability of care services in Austria. The Austrian Government should also develop and implement a sustainable and inclusive housing strategy, coordinated with other national social strategies, such as poverty eradication to address the issue of homelessness.
