The European Social Network (ESN), in collaboration with MEP Alex Agius Saliba, invites you to a European Parliament Roundtable to discuss the key priorities for social services in the new European Commission and Parliament.

Social services play a crucial role in upholding the social inclusion and protection principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights. As the new European Commission and Parliament are starting their work, it is key to discuss, EU level initiatives, which can help social services to full fill their mission of promoting social inclusion.

ESN members have identified social services financing, quality, transition to a new model of care, and the development of a qualified social services workforce as the most important themes for social services across Europe.

We propose a European Social Services Framework, which should address those challenges across four areas of action:

  1. Promote Social Services’ financial sustainability
  2. Revamp the European Social Services Quality Framework
  3. Incentivise a person-centred community-based model of care
  4. Launch a European Social Services Workforce Strategy

At the event, EU and social services leaders will discuss the reality of social services’ challenges in different EU countries and exchange ideas on EU level solutions.

More information on ESN’s proposal for a social services framework can be found here.

Please register here by 8 October 2024.
