Sigrun Thorarinsdottir is the Social Services Director of the Municipality Kópavogur in Iceland, responsible for child protection, financial aid and housing assistance, counselling, services for the elderly, disabled people, refugees, families and children.

She is a qualified social worker with a postgraduate diploma in child protection and public administration, as well as a Master's degree in Public Administration.

For the past twenty years, Sigrun has worked within municipal welfare services in a variety of management and specialist roles. Her experience includes serving as Director of Social Services in smaller municipalities in the east of Iceland, Office Manager as part of the management team at the child protection section for the City of Reykjavík, Manager of a residential home for people with disabilities, and a specialist at the Icelandic Association of Local Authorities.
