On 26 September 2025, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML) welcomed a delegation from the Association of Centres of Social Work of Slovenia (ACSW) at its facilities. Facilitated by ESN, the visit is an example of the importance of building bridges between members, creating an international community of social service professionals.
The Slovenian delegation travelled to Lisbon with the aim of learning about local approaches to social intervention. During their visit, which lasted one full day, they explored two of the institution's essential services: the Centre for Education, Training and Certification (CEFC) and the Local Information and Coordination Centre (CLIC Lx).
The CEFC focuses on adult education, providing guidance and referrals for individuals aged 18 and over who are seeking academic or professional certification. Through this support, this centre facilitates the recognition, validation and certification of skills acquired by adults throughout their lives.
In the afternoon, the delegation was welcomed by Ângela Guerra from Santa Casa, who introduced the CLIC-Lx initiative and outlined the organisation’s management of institutional partnerships. CLIC-Lx plays a key role in the city’s strategic response to longevity and aging, as it serves as a space where multiple organisations develop integrated responses to aging-related issues.
This visit was a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and reinforced the role of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa as a European reference in social services. The exchange was made possible through ESN’s support in connecting members across Europe, helping them share good practices. As a growing network of organisations active in the field of social services, ESN enables its members to access a vibrant community of social service professionals and cooperate beyond national borders.
