The Department of Social Policies is responsible for carrying out the functions and responsibilities of the Alava County Council in the area of social services. To this end, it has an autonomous body, the Alava Provincial Institute of Social Welfare (IFBS), attached to the Department. Endowed with its own legal personality and full capacity to act, IFBS's objectives include the organization, management, provision, and implementation of activities related to social services and social welfare policies, within the framework of powers established by law.
