Exchanging views on future resilient social services

Since the Covid-19 crisis, one theme has become increasingly central to the European Social Network’s (ESN) work: resilience of social services. Alfonso Lara Montero, Chief Executive Officer of ESN told attendees at the opening of ESN’s Members Forum 2021: “In the wake of the pandemic, resilience is key when looking at the ways in which social services are transforming how they work and service the population groups that use them.”

in Europe
Leaders come together to honour efforts to make social services more resilient for the future
 
The European Social Services Awards (ESSA) was launched three years ago by the European Social Network (ESN) to recognise innovation and excellence in social services shining a spotlight on successful new approaches and the extraordinary ongoing work done by social services professionals. This year’s edition is held under the theme Building Resilience in Social Services with the aim to explore and visualise how social services have responded to the crisis to ensure continuity and quality of care for the populations with whom they work on a daily basis.

Implementing the Child Guarantee: ensuring the role of public social services 

Public social services in all 27 EU member states not only have a commitment to  break the cycle of disadvantage for vulnerable children, they have child protection at the core of their work. The European Social Network (ESN) has consistently emphasised the importance of public social services being included as a central partner in the building and implementation of the Child Guarantee, which aims to ensure every child in the EU at risk of poverty or social exclusion has access to the most basic of rights like healthcare and education.
