The project's goal is to encourage effective treatments that can keep children out of foster care and to emphasise the need of a child-centred approach that takes both parents' and childrens' concerns into account. Implementing the program involves establishing homecare interventions with families to assist parents, build parent-child ties, and enhance children's development, and a collaboration between schools (including the child's teacher), families, and social services.

Furthermore, to strengthen the school's involvement, a regional agreement is signed between participating schools with a view to integrate PIPPI with other forms of school support. Participation in groups for parents and children, such as weekly or fortnightly parental support meetings. Additional family support: local volunteers, including support provided to the target family using friends, neighbours, and extended family members.
