At the outset of contact, the local public social service assesses the needs of young adolescents. ASD will then determine the scope and nature of the young person's support needs, working with other youth care institutions and professionals as needed.

Criteria for assessing needs and skills include: autonomy stage, education or apprenticeship stage, relationships with the social environment, and ability or skills to cope with daily life.

It must be realistic that all targets can be met through youth pedagogical training.

Service is usually for two or three years.

Targets: • personal independence • social integration with the local community • ability to run a personal household • ability to manage a personal monthly budget • vocational prospects • knowledge of advice centers and social services outside of youth care.

Services: • case management • consultation, assistance, and support • socio-emotional skills by working on someone's ability to build trusting and reliable personal relationships.

Aims: To integrate young adolescents into society, particularly young care leavers; pursuing an integrated approach to children's and youth services and school development.
