RuralCare was a European innovation project in social services, funded by the EU Programme for Employment and Social Inclusion. It focused on the design, testing, and evaluation of an innovative systemic approach to the provision of integrated long-term care for people living in rural areas, based on their values, desires, and individual preferences.

The project tested a multi-level partnership for the provision of care, including public and private actors and the coordination of social and health services at local, regional, and national levels, with the participation of the users. Its aim was to address the challenges of accessibility, affordability, quality, and sustainability in unpopulated rural areas, thereby making it easier for people to stay at home with a support plan appropriate to their life project.

The project ran for 36 months and concluded in October 2023.

ESN is responsible for practice identification and analysis, knowledge transfer, communication and dissemination, including the organisation of two workshops and the closing conference in September 2023.
