Registration for the 31st European Social Services Conference (ESSC), taking place in Malmö, Sweden, from 14-16 June 2023, is now open. Register before 31 December to take advantage of the super early-bird discount of 10% on the conference fee.

The European Social Services Conference is the largest annual forum for social services professionals in Europe. Our 2023 conference will centre on the role of technology and digitalisation in the transformation of social services with a specific focus on people’s autonomy and inclusion. Through interactive workshops, panel discussions and plenary sessions, keynote speakers and organisations from around the world will offer insight into best practice and technological advancements in social services.

The 2022 conference, which took place in Hamburg, Germany welcomed almost 600 delegates over the course of the 3-day programme. Delegates attending ESSC 2023 will be Directors of Social Services, representatives of national, regional and local public authorities, the European Institutions, policy-makers and companies providing solutions for social services.

4 Plenary Sessions:

Inspirational speakers and experts in AI, technology and digitalisation will bring to the conversation data driven methods to support the social inclusion of vulnerable people. The first 2 confirmed keynote speakers are:

  • Sir Geoff Mulgan, Professor of Collective Intelligence, Public Policy and Social Innovation at University College London (UCL)
  • Tracy Wareing Evans, President and CEO of the American Public Human Services Association

24 workshops or case studies, 4 thematic panel discussions & 12 pitch project presentations:

Public authorities, IT industry professionals, researchers and leaders in social services will share their experience developing innovative solutions to modernise and improve the delivery of social services.

The Nordic Day

Organised by The Nordic Welfare Centre on 13 June, under the theme ‘Health and Welfare Technology for prolonged independent life – a user perspective,’ social services professionals from the Nordic countries to share their experience with conference delegates.

Every year ESN is delighted to partner with both public authorities and industry partners supporting the delivery of social services to ensure the success of the conference. The co-host for our 2023 conference is the City of Malmö.  

We have partnered with SKR, the association for cities and regions, and  FSS, the association of social services directorsAs key authorities in the delivery of social care and practice in Sweden, these organisations bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with delegates.
