The German Association for Public and Private Welfare, based in Berlin, has been the common forum for all actors in social work, social policy and social law in Germany for 140 years. With approximately 2,000 members it deals with a diverse range of topics. These include the development and promotion of child, youth and family policy, basic social security systems, the elderly, care and rehabilitation, civic engagement, the planning of social work and social services, as well as international and European social policy and social law. Membership includes municipalities, voluntary welfare, science, individuals and numerous other actors from the social field.
