Services for people with disabilities are a significant part of any welfare system and a key priority for public social services. Our members support people with disabilities in various ways to ensure their care and support needs are addressed, and they can fully participate in society. We promote a comprehensive approach to person-centred, community-based social services that enhance the inclusion and quality of life of people with disabilities.

We contribute to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UN CRPD), the European Commission’s European Disability Strategy 2021-2030 and the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) principles 3, 11, and 17, 18 related to disability. In 2018, we published a toolkit on independent living and social inclusion for people with disabilities, which was the result of the work conducted by our working group on disability, set up in 2014. In 2021, we joined the European Commission’s European Disability Platform to represent the voice of social services. Cross-cutting initiatives like our 2023 annual seminar on community care also contribute to supporting people with disabilities.
