Community mapping research was carried out with residents of Valletta neighbourhoods between June and December 2021. Valletta neighbourhoods have, for the last decade, passed through a regeneration process that has left an impact on the community. Thus, this research had the goal of underpinning the social dynamics of regeneration. Its goal was to capture community readiness on four main themes contributing to social mobility: education and employment, financial literacy and income stability, housing and household stability, and parenting. 

The findings helped Ħiliet il-Komunita’, a project part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under Operational Programme 1—European Structural and Investment Funds 2014–2020, to ensure that the provision of social welfare services and community partnerships are built on a bottom-up approach. Ħiliet il-Komunita wanted to listen to the residents' expectations and work with them to find effective solutions through partnerships, community capacity building, and advocacy.
