The Practice Fair

This year the conference will have a new addition to the conference programme: The Practice Fair! During this session organisations from around the world will showcase technology and digital tools and research in a ‘walking-library,’

Delegates will be able to walk through a  specially designated exhibition space, learning more about each project by interacting with the exhibitors and browsing through the material at each stand.

A broad range of best practices and innovative ideas will be on display. Included amongst the 14 projects already confirmed is:

  • research conducted by Karlstad Municipality in Sweden on how the public sector can accelerate technological transformations through public procurement;
  • new innovative and varied digital tools designed by Institut 4.10 in France to train the employees of the French Social Security system.

We are delighted to announce that we have some spaces available for organisations to apply to be part of this session. If you would like to display your project during this session and take advantage of the final  opportunity to contribute to the conference programme, please contact conference@esn-eu.org and share the information about your project.

This will be the perfect opportunity for you to bring your project to an international audience who will also be able to share their own perspectives and experience with you.

Social Sciences Journal: Special Conference Issue

We are delighted to announce that we are collaborating with the international open access journal, Social Sciences, to create a Special Issue for the conference this year. In line with the conference theme, the Special Issue will focus on accelerating the digital and technological transformation of social services by governments, public authorities, and agencies involved in their development and  conference contributors have already been invited to submit an abstract for review. More information can be found on the Special Issue page.

‘If we are to continually improve our support to individuals, families and communities then it is important for Social Services to build a stronger evidence base on what works (and as importantly was doesn’t). For this reason we are delighted that the Social Sciences Journal has agreed to provide a forum through which the innovations and evaluations presenting at this year’s conference can share their learning to a wider audience," said Professor Robin Miller, University of Birmingham, one of the editors of the special issue.

Wellbeing Sessions

Another new addition to the conference programme are  the Wellbeing Sessions. Early risers can attend these sessions, on 15 and 16 June  to start off the day relaxed and ready for the programme ahead. The sessions will include a guided meditation run by the conference hosts, Malmö City Council, which is one of the many activities they organise at their 10 Community Centres for Senior Citizens. The sessions will be held by Mia Pamp and Armin Borcak, whose work includes planning for, organising and leading social and physical activities that promote health and wellbeing and prevent involuntary loneliness.

Meet our ESSC 2023 Partners

This year ESN is partnering with recognised industry leaders and public authorities advancing the delivery of social services for the conference. Our Industry Partners already confirmed will bring knowledge, insights, innovations, new technologies and more.

Our institutional partners are the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs which supports the conference under the EU Swedish Presidency, SKR, the association for cities and regions, FSS, the association of social services directors and our host, the City of Malmö. These organisations are leaders in the delivery of social services in Sweden and will share with delegates their experiences and knowledge gained working in the Nordic social services system.

The Innovation Zone and Exhibition Area will provide delegates with the opportunity to learn about the latest developments and innovations in social services digitalisation.
