ESN’s European Semester Reference Group has met each year since 2014 to discuss challenges facing social services in Europe and the annual European Semester policy cycle with representatives from the European Commission. In 2019, the Reference Group will meet on 27 – 28 June in Brussels.

Invest - Innovate - Transform: Empowering people and communities
Building on the key messages from the 2017 conference, the 26th European Social Services Conference (ESSC) will explore how we can improve services by empowering the people and communities which are at the heart of social welfare.

ESN launched the first of a series of webinars, that will look into evidence-based policy and practice in Europe and US. In this webinar the focus was on 'Innovation in social services and the approches from Europe and the US.

ESN's annual seminar took place in Sweden and showed exemples of policy and practice for the social inclusion of migrant children and yung people.

The 25th anniversary edition of the European Social Services Conference (ESSC) took place in Valletta, Malta and was organised in cooperation with the Maltese Government and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

ESN's Members' Forum took place in Brussels this April. It brought toghether our members from across Europe and beyond to set the agenda for the coming 3-4 years as we enter a new partnership with the European Commission.

In cooperation with the Slovak Presidency of the EU, ESN organised a seminar on the social service workforce, which brought together issues around service planning and coordination - from child protection through services for people with disabilities and older people.
